We met as seniors in college in South Dakota, where we were drawn together by our commitment to shared values. From South Dakota to Washington, D.C., to Minnesota, the values that brought us together have guided us through the many joys and challenges life has thrown our way and strengthen our relationship every day.
We believe it's our responsibility to leave a positive impact on the world, which is why we push each other to always be our best selves. And that's why we're hoping to adopt--because we know there is so much for us to share with a child. Hopefully you can get some ideas about what that might look like by perusing our site. While you're here, feel free to take a minute and learn more about us, our families, our pets and our home. You can meet Todd and get to know Dirk, too.
To get started, these are a few of our favorite things: movies/musicals, traveling, theater, hiking, geocaching, music, community events, TV shows (Game of Thrones, The Fosters, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, This is Us, Harlots, The Handmaid's Tale, and Veep, among others), social justice, President Obama, holidays, yoga, video and board games, and of course our family and friends.
Our families: Supportive, loving, and just the right amount of weird.
We. Love. Animals. Like all pet parents, we believe Luna (our cat) and Charlie and Macy (our dogs) are the cutest, best pets out there. Sure, they demand constant attention, take up all the room on the bed and don't understand the meaning of personal space...but they always seem to know how to make you smile or cuddle up to you when you need it most.
Our home: A place of refuge, a place of fun.
We love our home, because it's more than just a house. It's a hub of activity, the gathering place for neighborhood BBQs and holidays, and just the right size for our growing family. And our city, Robbinsdale, has big-city amenities with small-town charm. You'll often find us out and about supporting our local businesses and participating in community events like Whiz Bang Days.
